Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based Therapy, Existential Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Art Therapy, and Play Therapy. As a therapist, I focus on enhancing client’s understanding of their inherent strengths to orient client’s actions towards their deeply held values. In my work with children and adolescents, I endeavor to improve the use of adaptive coping skills, increase somatic awareness, improve the client’s ability to build strong and lasting peer/adult relationships, and achieve long-term goals using Play Therapy and trauma-informed modalities. I also incorporate elements of Somatic Therapy, seeking to improve client’s understanding of emotion and stress in the body, while providing healing strategies grounded in increasing feelings of safety and security in the body. I am also trained in Trauma Informed Yoga, and bring elements of mindfulness, meditation, breath work, and movement into trauma-informed care.
I emphasize forming a robust and secure therapeutic relationship with clients and approaching life’s challenges with respect for my clients’ inherent strengths and resilience. My specialties include breathwork, mindfulness techniques, visualization and creative interventions.
Issues I treat include trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, disordered eating, postpartum depression, PTSD, and inter-personal relationship stress.
I believe strongly that each client brings with them to therapy a deep well of strengths that, when harnessed, contribute to growth towards an empowered and embodied experience of life.
In my free time, I love to bake sourdough. My sourdough starter is named Velma, like the Scooby Doo character. I am a certified yoga teacher. I love to hike and trail run.
