Inability to stop or control the worrying
An inability to stop or control the worrying is when an individual is unable to stop their thinking process from using their attentional capacities from focusing on things other than the worry.
There are countless reasons why this may happen to an individual, and more times than not, an inability to stop or control the worrying is related to your mind attempting to wrap it self around the problem or situation. In essence, your mind is trying to solve what it perceives to be a problem; however, not all problems, particularly complicated ones in which anxiety is infused into the experience, have a resolution. So, our minds get stuck, persistently, and repeatedly trying to solve a problem that it perceives and interprets as highly valuable.
Chronic and persistent worries that we cannot stop, in addition to making us feel bad which further impacts our esteem and mental health; may also, at times, influence and negatively contribute to physical and medical conditions. Chronic worries may at times further impair our ability to adaptively function at work, in relationships, and throughout daily living because these worries interfere with our ability to be mentally and emotionally present from what and those who may be right in front of us.
